Rock The Jive Records is an accounting studio for people whose money doesn’t show up in neat little paycheques. Musicians. Bands. Indie labels. Creators on YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Patreon, OnlyFans, Fansly and everywhere in between. If your income comes from gigs, merch, streams, brand deals and three other places you forgot about, you’re in the right room.

Where the name comes from

During the pandemic, I wrote a song called “Rock The Jive” for people who were having a hard time. The message was simple: have fun, be cool, enjoy the moment you’re in. When I opened this studio, I wanted it to carry that same feeling. Money stress is real. It doesn’t get to run your life.

Who’s behind the desk

I’m Sailor Schmidty. I’ve been making music for about 18 years, and I’ve put in about 2.5 years in public accounting practice. I’m a recording artist too, so the gig economy isn’t a theory to me. It’s Tuesday. You may listen to my first record, Something About Sailor which is currently live on Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming services

What we do

Personal tax (T1), corporate tax (T2), HST, payroll, and bookkeeping in QuickBooks and Xero. Fixed fees instead of surprise hourly bills. Plain-language answers instead of jargon. And you deal with the person actually doing the work, who treats your numbers with the same care as a master take.

How we roll

Four house rules run this place: Love, Respect, Honesty and Happiness. That last one is short and sweet: Be happy and have a good time.

We don’t judge the hustle. We manage it.

You may not have heard of an accounting studio before because it is a new, different kind of build. It is a new place to practice soulful and wholesome accounting. It welcomes new markets that are underserved in this field. Join the studio and come and have a rocking good time with your records.
